In Europe
Europe is a great place to study but you know you don't have to know the language to study in another European country. If you have held onto a romantic notion of studying art in Italy or mechanics in Germany there are courses for you in English which give you the opportunity to live in another European country and experience the culture. Plus it looks great on the CV.
There is a European programme called Erasmus (part of the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme) that provides you with funding to study abroad in another European country for up to a year. You are even still eligible to receive your UK loan or bursary during this year. This programme is great if you are flexible in the countries you want to stay in but you can't apply as an individual only through your college or university.
If you are interested in a traineeship from hairdressing to horticulture there's the Leonardo traineeship scheme which is also part of the European Commission's new Lifelong Learning Programme. Apprentices, trainees, vocational students, young workers and registered job seekers are all eligible to apply. The programme covers the costs of your travel, accommodation and language tuition. Registered job seekers may also be able to have their living costs covered.

You may even just want to dabble in a course hosted in another European country. If you are involved in youth work activities and aged 18-30 you could be funded to attend a short language and culture courses in Spanish, French, Italian, German, Arabic and Russian.
